Our History
Leisure Time Pool Service started out of Jerry’s home with himself and 1 truck in 1995. Scott joined him in 1996 as a full partner and they started building their customer accounts. It wasn’t long before they needed to lease a small warehouse and added 3 more trucks. They operated a retail store in Citrus Heights for some years but decided to return to their roots of service and repair and are now launching an online store. Over the years they have become certified in all facets of pool service, repair, remodeling, energy efficient upgrades, tile cleaning, spa repair, leak detection, solar, waterfalls, safety covers / fences, and hold a C-53 contractor’s license for pool construction. They are currently located in a 5000 sq ft warehouse with a fleet of 10 trucks and have a great group of office and technical staff for all your pool service and repair needs.
Our logo is a tribute to Jerry’s mother, Loraine R. Rippeto, (Nov 19, 1921 – Oct 4, 1996). She was a major influence in Jerry’s life and the lives of her grandchildren. Her favorite place to be was near the Cypress trees on the 17 Mile Drive, and as per her request, Gary, Lori and Scott spread her ashes out to sea at the Lone Cypress Tree in Monterey. In her honor we designed our logo with her initials LR at the base of our foundation. She was a wonderful woman and we are thankful to have had her in our lives.
Jerry’s History
Leisure Time Pool and Repair was born from my mother’s desire for me to have more leisure time with my family and it turns out that we provide a service that allows others to have more leisure time with their friends and family. I was raised by my mother, a single mom, three sisters and a grandmother – who never missed a thing. We were raised with simple values that we passed on to our children; be honest, do the right thing, treat people the way you want to be treated, work hard and do it right the first time. I have found that when I live my life the way I was taught, I can sleep better at night – and that’s the way I like it.
I was lucky enough to marry the love of my life who I met when we were twelve while working as car hops at a local restaurant. She has been with me through all the ups and downs. While in college I worked at my wonderful mother’s café on weekends and on breaks, but it was so successful within a year that I left college to become her partner in the cafe. I was blessed to have worked with my mother for 10 years in the restaurant business. Being able to work together and gain her vast wisdom and knowledge has helped tremendously to shape my core values and wisdom. Over those years we expanded to a larger restaurant and had many wonderful customers.
Sam, a regular customer came to me early in my restaurant career to ask if I wanted to buy stock in his small chain of discount stores (3 stores at the time). I told him that every dime I had was being invested into expanding the restaurant and buying my toys. Sam Walton was still a regular customer 15 years later when I was tired of the hours required in owning and operating my own business – and I went to work for him at one of his Wal-Mart stores. Just think where I’d be financially if I had invested in Sam’s stock. I worked for Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores for a total of 15 years and moved about every 3 years.
When my youngest sister moved to California for a job, my mother urged me to transfer there as well to be near her. We loved the Sacramento area and decided to stay and buy a house here. We were tired of moving and my mother suggested I get back into owning my own business so I could create more leisure time for myself and my family. While driving down I80 to visit my sister, I saw a road sign for Leisure Town Road and that is when the name for the business came to me. My mother passed away while I was trying to decide what I wanted to do and it was afterwards that I made the decision –the name is a dedication to her dreams for me.
My mom wanted leisure time for me and I want it for my customers – that is why we work for your leisure! The tree on our logo is a tribute to my mother as well. Her favorite place to be was near the Cypress trees on the 17 Mile Drive, and as per her request, Gary, Lori and Scott spread her ashes out to sea at the Lone Cypress Point in Carmel. In her honor we designed our logo with her initials LR at the base of our foundation. She was a wonderful woman and I am thankful to have had her in my life.
My wife and I raised our three children to work hard and have the same values that we have and they are all healthy and successful themselves. If you are looking for businesses that share these values you may want to check them out sometime. My wife Donna is the administrator of Sun Oak Assisted Living in Roseville.
Gary, our oldest son, is married to Andrea, a wonderful daughter-in-law. They have two beautiful kids, Emily and Garrett. He owns an automobile repair shop called Made in Japan Made in America on Howe Ave.
Lori, our daughter, is single, a goldsmith and designer of fine jewelry. She owns Spinelle Fine Jewelers in Napa.
Scott our youngest son, whom I have been blessed to work with and share breakfast and lunch with all these years, is single, and has been my business partner for 15 years. He has been instrumental in the growth of our family corporation. He is also an expert in all phases of the repair and remodeling side of our business. Thanks for taking the time to read our story , I look forward to satisfying your pool needs in the future.
